Hello,

And thank you for taking the time to visit my page. As you explore, I hope you connect with some of the work I’ve been fortunate to be a part of. I’d love to discuss your upcoming projects and how I can help in making them a reality. If you’re not there yet feel free to reach out anyway, be it for an introduction, referral, or anything and everything about the visual medium. Goes without saying but I’m a bit of a film nerd.

-Marvin Diaz

Motion Picture Director/Producer

Short of a decade removed from his first professional credit, Salvadoran-American filmmaker Marvin Diaz has filled the in-between working on over 250 motion picture productions. These include works for AMC, AppleTV, BET, Comedy Central, Discovery, Disney, ESPN, FX, HBO, Hulu, MTV, NatGeo, Netflix, Nickelodeon, Starz, etc. He has assistant-directed English and Spanish productions for Adidas, the CDC, Five Guys, FreddieMac, Johns Hopkins, Jordan Brand, Pepsi, the Red Cross, Volkswagen, and several others. With an apt sense for running set and actor performance, Marvin draws from his Latin-instilled work ethic and has directed/produced nine of his own grassroots productions, with plans for the tenth this year.

I’m currently working on:

Pre-Production

A motion picture is created in three phases; Pre, Principal, and Post-production. I’m grateful to have played roles in each. Experience in pre-production includes:

  • Screenwriting/Script Breakdown

  • Storyboarding/Shot list

  • Scheduling/Permitting

  • Hiring Crew and Vendors

  • Talent Audition/Rehearsal

Principal Photography

The big day. Each phase is equally important but principal photography is the spirit of cinema. My duties on set include but are no means limited to:

  • Callsheet/Production Reports

  • Crew Communication

  • Client Interfacing

  • Talent Supervision

  • Overall run of day management

Post-Production

You take the Pre and the Principal and stitch it all together. If only it were that simple. My post-production experience includes:

  • Quality Control

  • Material Acquisition

  • Media Management

  • Footage Stringouts

  • Clearances

Kind Words from Kind People

“Marvin is a trusted partner whom we love to have on set with us. He is personable, on top of his game, and always brings a spirit of collaboration to the team. His infectious energy and work ethic ensure we stay on time and on budget during our productions.”

— Jen Barrie, Owner/Creative Director

Barrie Creative

“With Marvin as the Assistant Director on our three back-to-back shoots, our set days were easy, smooth, and dare I say, delightful. Not only did Marvin keep everything on track and running flawlessly with all 15 of our actors, he did it with utmost professionalism and a contagious levity. He was laser-focused on every detail. He was endlessly helpful, supportive, and present. And he left the crew buzzing with positive energy, despite long days and perpetually moving parts. I plan to hire him for any and every other shoot that requires a director or AD (if we're lucky enough to snag him before he's scooped up for something else), and you would be remiss not to snag him when you can too! ”
